WHO WE ARE
We are a friendly local Methodist church who welcome others to join us in our worship and service to God. Our emphasis is on learning and understanding the Bible and following the example of Jesus and his followers.
All are welcome at Moorhouse. We recognise that making your first steps into a Church may not be easy but we can guarantee a friendly face and a cheery “Hello”. Don’t worry that you may not know “what to do”. It’s simple-we stand to sing, we sit to pray and we listen. Our usual worship is a mixture of traditional and modern hymns, prayers for ourselves, for others and for the world around us. We take a collection for the work of the church and we offer a time of informal fellowship over a cup of Fairtrade tea or coffee and biscuits after the service on a Sunday morning.
Children are welcome and come into the start of the main church service on a Sunday before leaving and going into the School room for Bible stories and activities. We understand that small children and babies find it difficult to sit still and we know you will try and keep them quiet but don’t worry about it – it’s great that you come!
The wider church
Moorhouse is part of the Rochdale and Littleborough Methodist Circuit, which in turn is part of the North West England Methodist District. The Circuit consists of 10 churches, as well as a number of community outreach projects. There is also an Anglican/Methodist Primary School within our Circuit. We have two ministers, one of whom is the Superintendent Minister. They each look after their own group of churches, with the Superintendent Minister, overseeing the Circuit. You can find out more about the Rochdale and Littleborough Methodist Circuit on their homepage.
We are part of The Methodist Church and follow their principle aims and beliefs. We are called to respond to the gospel of God’s love in Christ and to live out its discipleship in worship and mission. For more information click here.
