Dear Friends,
We are all aware of the fragile state of parts of the World at this time, with conflicts taking place in various parts, including Ukraine and the Middle East.
As we watch on from a distance we are filled with sadness and concern for those caught up in the violence of war. We long and pray for peace and a better future, where each person’s life is valued.
In Paul’s letter to the church in Ephesus he writes, “Be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.” (Ephesians 4:32)
This was his message to the Christians there, but it also relevant for the World today and to our own society. To be kind to each other, tenderhearted and forgiving, as Jesus forgives us, is a wonderful way to live our lives. Imagine a world where we did this and how that would transform each person and nation. This is the way that God longs for it to be.
Gwynn Bamford, Supernumerary Deacon, from the Bromsgrove and Redditch Circuit wrote this prayer:
A prayer that we see the world through God's eyes
If we see the world through your eyes, Lord,
then we see a vision of our world as your love would have it:
a world where all who are weak are protected and none go hungry;
a world where your riches of creation are shared for everyone to enjoy them;
a world where mutual respect is expressed between different races and cultures and harmony descends;
a world where peace is built with justice, and justice is guided by love.
Give us the inspiration and courage to build it how you see it Lord!
That all may praise together and the only power exerted is the power of your love. Amen.
Let us work and pray for a better World where all life is valued and all are treated equally, with respect and love. The World that reflects the love of
God for us all.
Yours in Christ,
Rev Ruth Jackson
